Purchased tickets must be picked up in person at Sumers Welcome Center. As a reminder, Eventbrite receipts are not the event tickets.

Advanced Ticket sales ended at Noon CST on Tuesday, October 22nd. Any unsold or returned tickets will be available for purchase at the Parent & Family Weekend Check-In in Sumers Welcome Center.

If you missed online registration,You can register for Parent & Family Weekend on-site at the Sumers Welcome Center.

We are unable to process refunds after Noon CST on Tuesday, October 22nd. Per Eventbrite’s policy, we are unable to refund the Eventbrite fee associated with each ticket purchase. 


We are excited to welcome all parent & family members back to campus. Parent & Family Weekend is a time to re-connect with your student and explore both Washington University’s campus and the surrounding St. Louis community.

2019 Schedule

2019 Parent & Family Weekend Schedule Overview is now available. A detailed print copy of the schedule will be provided to you when you check-in for the weekend on campus.

Many of our events begin as early as 9:00 AM on Friday. We encourage you to consider arriving in St. Louis on Thursday evening in order to take full advantage of all of our programs and events.

**Please note that some of the programs and events listed in the schedule are sponsored by student organizations. Student organizations have the option to publish these events in our schedule and coordinate the ticket purchasing process through the First Year Center; however, not all chose to do so. Additionally, some student groups choose to host student-only events over Parent & Family Weekend.


Mobile App

The WashUEvents Mobile App is an easy way and convenient way to navigate our events on your Apple (iOS) and Android smartphones and tablets. It contains all of the event information that you’ll need to make the most out of your experience. This application is free to download and use. See below for steps to access the Parent & Family 2019 schedule through the mobile app.

  1. Download the ‘WashUEvents’ application through the app store on your phone or tablet. Search ‘WashUEvents’ in your app store. Select ‘Get’ and ‘Install’ to obtain on your phone.
  2. Click ‘Download Guides’ and search for ‘Parent & Family Weekend 2019’ to access the schedule.
  3. Add events to your personal schedule.

Key features include a schedule view, creating your own personalized schedule, FAQs, and live updates. Please note that in the next few days, updates will continue to be made in the mobile app.


Attending Classes

At check-in, we will provide you with a list of courses that are available to observe on Friday, November 1st. Feel free to attend classes with or without your student. If your students is in a class that is not on the list we provide at check-in, please have your student speak with their faculty member to ensure it is appropriate for you to attend. There are some small seminar courses that do not have additional seats in the classroom space. Additionally, it is possible some of these courses have scheduled quizzes or exams on Friday, November 1st.  If you arrive to a course and this is the case, we ask you to find another to attend.

Please note, very few classes are offered on Friday after 2:00 PM. If attending classes interests you, please plan accordingly.

Parking

When picking up your check-in and registration packets, you may choose to park in the East End Garage located adjacent to the Sumer’s Welcome Center. For long-term parking throughout the day, we encourage you to park in any designated visitor space on campus or yellow designated spaces on campus.

Visitors will not need a permit to park in these spaces during the weekend.

Visitor and yellow designated parking is available in the garages of the Danforth University Center (DUC), Snow Way and Millbrook on the Danforth Campus, as well as in Shepley and Wallace Garages on the South 40.

As a reminder, you may also park in any unreserved space – those not marked as red or accessible – in any zone, starting at 5:00 PM on Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday.


Undergraduate Admissions

For families bringing prospective students to campus during Parent and Family Weekend, there are available Admissions activities during Parent & Family Weekend.

Undergraduate Admissions encourages any family bringing a prospective student in 9th grade or higher to register in advance through their Visit page or by calling their office at 314.935.6000.

The First Year Center will also be leading walking tours for families interested in learning more about campus in general during Parent and Family Weekend.


FAQs

Parent & Family Weekend is sponsored by First Year Center. Is it just for families of first-year students?

Although the First Year Center coordinates Parent & Family Weekend, families of students across all undergraduate Classes attend the weekend. The majority of programs and events are for any and all family members and students. Additionally, the First Year Center supports family members throughout a student’s entire Washington University career.

One of the tours I would like to go on is sold out. Can I still attend?

Every Monday at 3PM CST before advanced ticket sales have closed, we will put any tickets that have been returned in the last week back up for sale on the ticket sales page.

After advance ticket sales have concluded or an event has sold out, we encourage you to stop by the Parent & Family Weekend Check-In in Sumers Welcome Center on Friday or Saturday to see if there are available tickets. In limited situations, some family members are not able to attend an event and will inform us. At that time we will be able to provide updated information about availability of tickets.

I can no longer go on a tour or to an event. Who should I notify?

If you know you are no longer able to attend an event before Friday, November 1, we ask that you email us to let us know you will no longer be in attendance. This will allow us to update capacities and offer a ticket to other interested individuals. We are unable to process refunds after 12:00 PM Noon CST on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Per Eventbrite’s policy, we are unable to refund the Eventbrite fee associated with each ticket purchase.  If you arrive to campus and are no longer able to attend an event or tour, we ask that you stop by the Parent & Family Weekend Check-In in Sumers Welcome Center or send an email.

I have a family member who will need a wheelchair or additional accommodations during the weekend. How do I prepare for this?

If a guest attending Parent & Family Weekend requires a wheelchair, please contact Medical West at 314.725.1888. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide wheelchairs to attendees on campus. If you have additional accessibility needs, please contact our office.
