Changes to WashU dining operations

Dear Danforth Campus Community Members:

On behalf of the entire Washington University Dining Services team, we hope you and your family are staying healthy and safe. Our recent communications from Chancellor Martin highlighted the changing conditions in our region and our desire to continue to be vigilant and mindful of resulting required actions. With the current increase of COVID-19 cases on campus and in the St. Louis region, we want to inform you that we are preparing to implement new dining guidelines, beginning next week.

Following university health principles and guidance from the CDC, in addition to the St. Louis County Health Department’s recent decision to limit indoor and outdoor seating in restaurant establishments, we will effectively close all seating in dining operations beginning Monday, November 16. In order to provide quality service at a safe level we will only be offering curbside, pick-up and mobile ordering at all Danforth Campus dining locations.

We are sharing this update to assure you that we will continue to provide exceptional service and options for our students who are living on campus or coming here for classes. Most importantly, we want to continue to keep you informed about the steps we are taking to ensure safe dining during this pandemic, and the availability of dining services.

As many of you know, our hospitality coordinators, located at the entrances to our dining facilities, began checking for successful symptom screening indications from each patron last week. Those efforts have contributed tremendously to our overall campus adherence to the daily symptom screening requirements to access campus. We will continue this practice in the new dining operations mode.
