Career Development Getting Started Making the Most of Breaks Networking Search Strategies Tips for Students

A Message Regarding COVID-19

Dear parents and families,

First, we hope that you and your family are safe and healthy during this time.  On behalf of our entire team at the Career Center we are sending you our best wishes and good thoughts.

We want you to know that the Career Center Team remains committed to supporting your student’s WashU career experience.  To that end, we wanted to let you know a few of the steps we have taken to deliver this support.

First, our entire team has moved to a remote work setting where we are eager to advise and coach your student virtually.  Please encourage your student to schedule an appointment by going to our website or calling 314-935-5930. We offer meetings via Zoom as well as typical phone appointments and email coaching.  Our team is here to process each personal situation and to brainstorm next steps, big and small.

Next, we have started to reach out to your student via e-mail to highlight our resources and to provide advice and feedback about strategies for post-graduation and summer planning.  To support this work we have created an online collection of resources on our website. These ideas are meant to inspire exploration, skills attainment, and connections with professionals and industry knowledge.

Finally, we are reaching out to and collaborating with our campus and employer partners and other career services colleagues across the country and throughout the world to share best practices and to gain understanding into how COVID-19 may impact the career experience of our students.  We will use this knowledge to inform how we continue to coach our students.

Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything we may do to better support your student.

All our best,

Mark W. Smith
